Receiving text & email reminders
The Medical Centre encourages fast, efficient and helpful communication for our patients. To help with this we would like to use text messaging to send you messages about appointments and other health related topics.
We operate an automatic "Opt In" system so that patients receive text messages with up to date information about their appointments, practice news and health care services that we offer.
If you wish to opt out of this service please let us know in writing, or by filling out the opt out form further down this page.
Examples of what our messages will be about are:
- Apointment confirmations and appointment reminders
- Flu or other vaccination invitations
- Chronic disease review invitiations
- Blood pressure and cholesterol monitoring
- Smoking status updates
- Reminders to order repeat prescriptions
- Information about new NHS services or developments
- Practice closures
Remember:
- It is your responsibility to maintain the safety of your mobile number.
- You agree to inform us as soon as possible if your change your number or email address or lose your mobile phone.
New Data protection regulations from May 2018 (GDPR)
Under the new data protection regulations introduced from 25th May 2018, we will continue to contact patients via text messages regarding the delivery of care if they have provided consent to do so.
If practices are sending messages about recommended treatment for the management of a specific health issue, then this is defined as providing appropriate care for patients, not marketing purposes.
