Repeat Prescriptions
You can obtain items by repeat prescription by returning the right side tear off strip from your last prescription. Please return this form (with the items you require ticked off) by putting it in the box at reception, posting it or by fax.
We operate a 48 hour turn around service on such prescriptions.
We are unable to accept requests by telephone due to risk of error being made and patient safety being compromised.

Please note that we are no longer using Emis Access for online repeat prescriptions. Our new system is called SystmOnline. Previous Emis Access users will have to re-register for the SystmOnline service.

In order to use the system you must have previously obtained the necessary access codes. Come to the surgery in person with photo ID and ask the receptionist for details of how to register for SystmOnline and receive your registration details.
Medication Reviews
Patients on repeat medication will be asked to see a doctor, nurse practitioner or practice nurse at least once a year to review these regular medications and notification should appear on your repeat slip.
Please ensure that you book an appropriate appointment to avoid unnecessary delays to further prescriptions.
Prescribing of Over the Counter Medicines is Changing.
Did you know in 2017-2018 we spent £3.2 million on prescribing over-the-counter medicines in Leeds? Across England, in the year prior to June 2017, the NHS spent approximately £569 million on prescriptions for medicines which can be purchased over the counter from a pharmacy and other outlets such as supermarkets.To help ensure we make the best use of our budget we have now implemented national guidance (issued by NHS England) and are asking GPs not to routinely prescribe over-the-counter medicines for a range of minor health concerns. Instead we are asking local people to buy over-the-counter medicines from their local pharmacy or supermarket.
How can you help your local NHS?
Keeping a few useful medicines at home means you can treat common conditions immediately without needing to see a healthcare professional.
These could include:
- Painkillers to help with pain or discomfort
- Indigestion medicines, oral rehydration salts and treatments for constipation and diarrhoea
- Treatments for seasonal conditions like hay fever
- Sunblock and after sun
- Basic first aid items (for example plasters or antiseptic cream)

Electronic Prescribing System.
Most of our patients are now using the on-line Electronic Prescribing System (EPS) to order their repeat prescriptions and many of them are having their pharmacy deliver their medication directly to their homes at no extra cost to them. Ask your surgery how you can sign up free for this service.
Our practice is collaborating with NHS Business Services Authority (NHSBSA) who is providing NHS numbers for those patients that maybe suitable for EPS repeat dispensing. The information is obtained from NHS prescriptions submitted to the NHSBSA. A member of our clinical team will contact these patients soon to explain the benefits of this service.
